Shotgun/Rimfire

When autumn arrives it brings along new colours, the talk of high birds, driven snipe & good company.

We offer walked up and driven days, these consist of a mixture of pheasant, partridge, pigeon, woodcock and snipe. These shoots are seasonal from late October to the end of January for parties of 6 to 8 guns, preferably already known to each other, but smaller parties & individuals are welcome.

Guns who like a traditional days walked up shooting can come out with us and spend the whole day walking up hedges and rough ground for pheasant, partridge, snipe and woodcock. A great way to spend a relaxing day. Guns are welcome to bring and work their own dogs. 1-4 guns.

There is also the opportunity out of season for casual walked up rough shoot days, consisting of rabbit, rook and pigeon. These are normally for individuals or up to 4 guns. Out of season shoots vary in cost so please contact for information.

Image 1 Driven snipe is possibly the most challenging of all forms of shooting, and bags vary according to the experience of the guns (seven to ten cartridges fired to one bird down is the average) and the number of birds shown. Being migratory birds, nothing is certain and individual drives can vary from a handful to several hundred birds being put over the guns. All birds shot are shared between the guns. The shoots take place over a mixture of plough, grass and marshland.

Cartridges - are of course a matter of personal choice but for snipe we recommend 7 or 8 non-toxic shot. If you run short there is a well-stocked local gunsmith who has supplies.

Game Licence - you will need a game licence to shoot snipe but if you do not already have one of our local Post Office can issue one.

Dogs - You are more than welcome to bring along your dog weather it be to work or just for the walk. We do reserve the right however to exclude it from the shoot if we consider it is disturbing the birds.

Cost - all shoots start at £100.00 per gun per day inclusive of a light lunch.Prices will vary depending on the day you require. All the party provides their own transport to the shoot.

Deposit - we require a deposit of 50% with the reservation and the balance to be paid two weeks before the shoot.

The shoot - normally commences at 9.30am & will finish around 3.30-4pm
